The Erie County Section of Social Services is pleased to denote the 2022 Erie County Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP).

The SYEP is an important platform to introduce youth into the workforce and help them acquire skills that tin be used to improve school performance and assist expand education and career goals.

The SYEP is an eight-calendar week program, serving youth between the ages of xiv and twenty years former. Youth participants accepted into the program will work and participate in mandatory educational activities for xx hours per week, July v, 2022 through August 26, 2022 at an assigned worksite. Participants will be compensated at least the Land minimum wage of $xiii.xx per hr.

The Buffalo Urban League and Catholic Charities are the plan operators; connecting youth with the worksites to give youth an opportunity to gain a meaningful piece of work feel during the summer. Worksites are located in community based organizations/businesses throughout Erie County.

Participants work in a variety of occupational sectors, including:

Camp
Kid Care
Customs/Social Service
Educational Services
Financial Services
Food Service
Governmental Agency
Health Care/Medical
Hospitality/Tourism
Information Technology
Legal Services
Property Maintenance/Custodial
Manufacturing
Marketing/Public Relations
Media/Amusement
Retail
Transportation

SYEP as well provides workshops on chore readiness, career exploration, financial literacy, and educational and skills training opportunities.

Program slots are limited and placement in the program is not guaranteed. Placement volition be based on youth circumstances and household income.
